Mr. Roy Gene Jones

June 23, 1937 - June 27, 2013

Roy Gene Jones was born, June 23, 1937 in Fort Necessity, Franklin Parish, LA, to the late Reverend Ernest J. and Mrs. Mary Lee Brown Jones. His home going was on June 27, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one grandchild and one great grandchild. Roy was baptized at an early age and became a member of St. Peter Rock Baptist Church at Bee Bayou, LA. Upon the family's relocation to Monroe, LA, he was united with the Tried Stone Baptist Church. He was educated in the Monroe City School System and joined the United States Navy in 1955 during the Vietnam conflict where he was a Boiler Technician Third Class. Roy was employed by D & J Construction and was employed by the City of Monroe until his retirement. He was a dedicated member of F.D. Thompson Post 521 of the American Legion and a member of the Triple S Club, both in Monroe, LA. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory; his wife, Cornelia T. Jones; two daughters: Sandra K. Jones Brown (Roy) and LaShelia A. Jones Jordan (Jeff), Monroe, LA; two step-sons, Michael Kelly (Clara), Monroe, LA and John Kelly, Jr., Richardson, TX; two step daughters, Cynthia Kelly Mitchell, Monroe, LA and Patricia K. Bailey, Natchitoches, LA; one sister, Jessie M. Turner, Rayville, LA; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one niece/sister iceey M. Jones, one special niece, Rosmary Turner, three uncles, two aunts a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
