“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” II Corinthians 5:8 Obituary Mr. Michael Wayne Gardner was born to the late Lawrence Felton Gardner and Annie Mae Caldwell Gardner in Monroe, Louisiana on October 19, 1963. He departed his earthly mission on June 22, 2017. Michael came to Christ at an early age. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Carroll and Lee Jr. High, Neville and Carroll High School where he was a dedicated snare drummer in the "Mighty Sound Machine Marching Band". After graduating high school, he attended Grambling State University and was a snare drummer there. He served as a member of the Grambling 100 Horses Alumni Band and Kappa Kappa Psi with the line name of "Live Wire" until death. While at Grambling State University, he obtained a degree in Electronic Engineering. He worked as a building mechanic for Lewis Sterrett Justice Center. He's preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Annie Gardner, four sisters: Bertha Mae Land, Hildred Jean Williams, Vera Esther Bates and Shirley Ann Reynolds. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters: Shonta Renee' Green and Desire Holley (both of Monroe, La), four sisters: Alice Faye Gardner (Monroe, La), Donna Sue McClarty and Anna Elois McClain (Danny), (Oakland, Ca), Vada Marie Jackson, Sr.(Arthur), (Euless, Tx), two brothers: Lawrence Ray Gardner (Sandra), (Monroe, La), Bobby LaVelle Gardner (Oakland, Ca), and eight grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews. Two very special friends Spencer Crawford and Robert Chisley, and a host of other relatives and friends.
