Mrs. Mattie Jean Gardner

Sister Mattie Jean Gardner was born to the late James Griffin and Mattie Lee Turner Griffin on August 23, 1935 in Bienville Parish. Sister Mattie accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Tom Grey at the Peter Rock Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member of the Senior Choir and the Adult Sunday School Class. Sister Mattie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie James Gardner; to this union two sons and one daughter was born. Mr. Gardner preceded her in death. Sister Mattie was employed by Montgomery Wards and retired in the early 90's. Sister Mattie was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. She leaves to cherish her loving memories one sister Emma Jean Gay; two sons Curtis Gardner of Temple, TX; Robert Griffin (Carolyn) of Monroe, LA; one daughter Kathy Williams (Bryant) of Mansfield, TX; twelve grand children; nine great grand children; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
