Lester Charles (L.C.) Winston Funeral services for Lester Charles Winston, “L.C.", 75, of Bastrop, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Morehouse Baptist Educational Association Center, 8420 Collinston Road, with the Rev. David Campbell Jr. officiating, the Rev. Vincent Winston will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the H.V. Adams Cemetery. The repast will immediately follow at New Second Baptist Church, 403 Smith, Bastrop. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Miller Funeral Home,2932 Renwick Street, Monroe and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at the Morehouse Association Educational Center. Mr. Winston died Saturday, March 30, 2013. at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. He was born to the late Alonzo Winston Sr. and Rosie Lee Henderson, March 12, 1938, in Oak Ridge and was united in holy matrimony to Mollie Pegross on April 6, 1959. L.C. was employed by the Crossett Plywood Paper Mill, Crossett, Ark. and Green Brother’s Diary Farm, Mer Rouge, prior to becoming medically disabled. L.C. was a member of New Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. David Campbell Jr. at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mollie Pegross Winston; four children, Mary Dudley and husband Gregory of Baton Rouge, Michael Winston and wife Margie of Farmerville, Charles Winston and wife Francis of Bastrop and Vincent Winston and wife Sonya of Bastrop. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Christopher and Alexandra Dudley of Baton Rouge, Shawn Taylor of San Antonio, Texas, Jonathan Manning of Farmerville and Vanecia and Vincent II Winston of Bastrop. All of his siblings preceded him in death. He is survived by one step-sister, Rosie Lee Brooks of Bastrop. The family would like to thank the healthcare organizations who provided care to L.C during his times of need: Bastrop Rehabilitation Hospital, Body and Soul Service, Cherry Ridge Nursing Home, Morehouse General Hospital, The Rural Health Clinic, Tru-Care Home Health and United HealthCare Inc. A very special thanks to Dr. Walters of the Rural Health Center, Sharon Green, RN with United HealthCare, Beulah Brandon, LPN with Morehouse General Hospital and the physicians, nurses and ancillary staff of Glenwood Regional Medical Center-Intensive Care Unit-South, who provided excellent, compassionate care for L.C. and his family until he transitioned home to be with his Lord and Savior.
