August 9, 1952 - October 13, 2012
On August 9, 1952 in Monroe, Louisiana Brenda Faye was the third child born to the late Minnie Mae Moorehead and Thomas Moorehead. She delighted in her name and was quick to let you know that she was "Brenda Faye". Brenda Faye peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012, in The Woodlands, Texas. Brenday Faye was educated in the Monore City public schools; she attended J. S. Clark Elementary School and received her high school diploma from Carroll High School. Brenda Faye enjoyed playing basketball on the Lady Bulldogs basketball team while at Carroll and relished her position as the team's point guard. Brenda Faye received her early Christian education under the tutelage of Pastor A. T. White and Rev. H. W. Franklin at Zion Hill Baptist Church. She regularly attended Sunday School and was a member of the youth choir. Upon graduation from Carroll High, she attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Brenda Faye went on to serve in the Women's Army Crops. Her zeal for life and adventure took her far from family and friends in Louisiana and the words "Go West" beckoned Brenda Faye to Los Angeles, California, where she ultimately became the "valley girl" that we all knew and loved. Her professional career was as eclectic as she way. Whether it was the Postal Service or the Federal Reserve, Brenda Faye left her indelible mark. Most recently Brenda Faye found her niche as a counselor helping residents qualify for public housing through the Los Angeles County Housing Authority. She delighted in being able to move an individual or family from a less than desirable living situatuion to his or her own apartment home. Brenda Faye was cheerful and always ready to put a humorous spin on life. She will be remembered by her friends for their picnics and concerts annually on Malibu Beach. She loved shopping and fashion and could put her own unique style on any garment. Brenda Faye was known to take charge in any setting, but underneath her strong veneer, was a compassionate heart and a loyal friend. To know her was to love her. Brenda Faye leaves to treasure and uplift her memories her three loving brothers, Thomas (Joyce), Michael and Carl and her devoted sister Patricia, six aunts; Shirley Sharpe, Helen Emerson, Betty Harris, Corinthia Jackson, Emma Lee Whatley and Lilly Brown; five uncles, Capp Emerson, Jr., George Moorehead (Mary), Kenneth Moorehead (Freida), Lindsay Moorehead (Irma), John Moorehead, two nephews, Brian P. Moorehead (Alonda) and Lawrence A. Moorehead, one great nephew, Brian P. Moorehead, II, and a host of other relatives and countless friends.
