OBITUARY Addie Hampton-Morehouse, seventh child of the late Levi and Addie J. Hampton, was born January 16, 1951, Monticello, LA. She had six brothers and nine sisters. At the age of 11 yrs. old, the family moved to Lake Providence, LA where she attended elementary through high school and met her future husband, Arnold Morehouse, Sr. To this union was born three sons. Addie professed a faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was an active and faithful member of Progressive Baptist Church. After moving to Monroe, LA she became a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and later united with Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church where she was an active member of the Sunday School and the Senior Choir. As a young child Addie developed a great love of reading which contributed to her desire to become an elementary school teacher. After graduating From Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA she began her teaching career in Lake Providence, LA. After moving to Monroe, LA she continued in her first love, teaching. After many years as an educator she moved from a classroom teacher to an assistant principalship and finally to her principal of Madison James Foster Elementary School for over ten years. She lived and breathed Madison James Foster Elementary school and spent her waking hours trying to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her students, teachers, parents, and the community served by Madison. Addie departed this life at the age of 67 on December 24, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Addie Hampton; siblings, Debra Charlene, Huey, and Joice Hampton. Left behind to cherish her memory are three children: Jerome (Lisa) Morehouse, Baton Rouge, LA; Mark (Anesha) Morehouse, Baton Rouge, LA; and Arnold (Jacinta) Morehouse, Monroe, LA; 11 grandchildren, ________________________________________________; 12 sisters and brothers: Bobbie Presley of Pleasanton, CA; Olivia Hampton Rice of Benicia, CA; Ann Hampton-Hawkins of Monroe, LA; Marilyn Hampton of Monroe, LA; Doris Rucker (Charles) of Rodeo, CA; Jimmy Hampton (Mona) of Shreveport, LA; Donald Ray Hampton of Rodeo, CA; Rickey Glenn Hampton (_______) of McDonough, Georgia; Betty Hampton-Owens of Monroe, LA; David Charles Hampton of San Francisco, CA; Rev. Tony A Hampton ( Tommie) of MD; and Stephanie Hampton-McDowell (Joseph) of Rockwall, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Addie will fondly be remembered by many names—Mom, Nana, Lil Addie, Mae Baby, Tee Addie, and Ms. Morehouse. But regardless of the name, she will forever be remembered with love by family, friends, and co-workers.
